This year, the student paper and poster presentations will take place on Wednesday, April 8th within the framework of five round table discussion groups, each with a common topic and a moderator to guide the course of the discussion—genuine dialogue—among the university students. Each paper will be included in one of the following tables:1) Rethinking the university’s identity. This table includes all those papers that took up the challenge of analyzing a university’s identity by looking at one of its aspects, the historical development of Universitas, or current proposals and expectations of a university.
2) The science and art of dialogue in the university. This round table brings together the papers which have reflected on the diversity found in a university community and how that richness favors the emergence of dialogue among countries, cultures, disciplines and persons of very different circumstances, in a collective search for truth.
3) Social responsibility of the university. This round table gathers those papers that touch on the role of the university students as the future—and current—builders of society, in whose hands lies the creation of culture, the legislation of a country and the cooperation with other existing initiatives. This awareness leads to a great sense of personal responsibility for each university student, and collectively, for the whole university community.
4) At the service of the person. This table brings together those papers that focus on the human person as the protagonist of the university institution. The papers, therefore, are centered on a reflection of what is the human person and how the University can contribute to one’s integral development, the defense of one’s rights and of his/her true identity. Moreover, through a deeper understanding of anthropology, university students will be capable of transmitting a truer sense of humanity to society.
5) University: Identity, Dialogue, Service. This round table will gather all of the English-speaking presenters of papers and posters submitted in English, which touch upon a number of the topics mentioned above.
The authors of the projects listed below-papers, posters and videos-, will have the opportunity to present them during the Congress. Here are some practical suggestions for your presentation:
- Maximum presentation time is 8 minutes.- You should have a clear structure to your presentation:
- Begin stating your main idea and the aim of your project.
- Explain briefly how you carried out your investigation: if your work was
mainly based on readings, a series of interviews/surveys, or a compilation of statistical
data.
- End with a few conclusions, reflections and proposals. This last point is important.
-Keep in mind that your presentation is within the context of a round-table and ought to
contribute to the discussion; therefore, be sure your presentation is clear, that one
could easily identify your main ideas and that they be related to the topic of your
table. Present the main proposals and conclusions of your work, including questions they
give rise to, which can facilitate the dialogue and discussion with the other presenters at
your table.
-If you use a PowerPoint presentation to help you, it should be as your aid, not your
substitute (i.e. do not include the whole text of your presentation on your slides)
